Interdisciplinary Understanding
While studying Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS), I have acquired a range of diverse concepts and techniques that I can apply in everyday life. Before taking multiple IDS courses, I had assumed that it was primarily the study of human behavior. I wasn't entirely wrong, since it is the focus of various aspects, including race, gender, culture, religion, and many more. In this current course, I have come to understand that there can be different areas of study for aspects in an article, video, story, or other media, referred to as disciplines. When reading specific articles for class, I gained different insights into various fields of study and dissected the problems or concepts presented.
Additionally, when on social media, concepts of Interdisciplinary Studies are present in the form of opinions and factual to non-factual evidence across diverse subjects. Outside of class, I can discuss IDS-related topics with certain family members and observe how they react and contribute to conversations on these subjects. My understanding of interdisciplinarity is that it is a process in which one identifies the various disciplines represented in a single article, video, or store, assisting individuals with diverse knowledge and backgrounds to gain new insights into "interdisciplinarity." In the future, I plan to apply interdisciplinary studies to everyday life. In everyday conversation, I separate myself into different viewpoints when looking something up or even in conversations to gauge others' views and why they feel that way and then look up the information later to see if what they said is true or false. I also plan to utilize it in my future job. As previously mentioned, I may want to expand my studies into becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). With this in mind, I am also hoping to gauge certain aspects of IDS when helping patients and also researching more into different types of diseases and injuries, and how, when, and where they may have happened, and publish my book on my understanding of various topics in my life that I have experienced with Interdisciplinary Studies.
